The White Stoneware GE221 PY is the pyrite version of the white classic: pyrite grains are folded into the body in the mixer and reveal themselves on firing as brown to black specks breaking through the glaze. A living mineral effect, different on every piece, impossible to obtain with a simple slip. Type: Smooth white stoneware with pyrite, grain 0-0.125 mm. Firing range: 1000-1280 °C.   • Type: Smooth white stoneware with pyrite, grain 0-0.125 mm.
  • Firing range: 1000-1280 °C.
  • Colour: White when wet, white speckled brown to black once fired.
  • Shrinkage: 8 % drying, 1.0 % at 1000 °C, 5.0 % at 1280 °C.
  • Water absorption: 13.4 % at 1000 °C, 0.4 % at 1280 °C.
  • Effect: Pyrite speckles breaking through the glaze.
  • Packaging: Ready-to-use 10 kg plastic-wrapped block.
  • Uses: Throwing, rustic tableware, transparent and satin glazes.

Wedge the clay before shaping, then dry slowly and evenly, away from draughts. Adapt the firing curve to the volume and thickness of your pieces, and always test the clay-slip-glaze combination before production. Store the block away from frost and drying out.
