The Normande Noire FA100 is a dark, expressive and mineral earthenware made by Raoult & Beck at its Saon factory in Normandy. This fine-grog version opens up the body and secures the drying of built pieces, while keeping a deep black both raw and fired. Note that it is the only clay in the range that must not exceed 980 °C. Type: Normandy black earthenware, fine grog 0-0.5 mm. Firing range: 980 °C maximum. Colour: Black when wet, black once fired. Shrinkage: 10 % drying, 5.0 % firing (1000 °C).   • Water absorption: 3.8 % at 1000 °C.
  • Moisture on delivery: 20 %.
  • Packaging: Ready-to-use 10 kg plastic-wrapped block.
  • Uses: Hand-building, slabs, sculpture, strong contrasts.

Wedge the clay before shaping, then dry slowly and evenly, away from draughts. Adapt the firing curve to the volume and thickness of your pieces, and always test the clay-slip-glaze combination before production. Store the block away from frost and drying out.
